SPECIAL NEWS: All teams registered before February 01, 2012 will receive a free sponsored fundraising booth for your organization to fundraise at the vendors market & tradeshows. This event will be in the same location as the drill team competition. There will be over 65,000 attendees (spectators) each day for this 2 day event. Bring your favorite items that sell well in your town and or city and promote/sell to raise monies for your team. All teams that are register before 02/01/2012 to do fundraising send in a team photo so your team can be placed on TV- Radio Commericals & other Marketing Promotional Ads

Contest Rules

 

Team Size Rules: Varsity Public Community Drill teams NOT Dance Teams classified by team size (Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large(Adult)), must determine their size by reporting the actual number of members on their team and not how many members will be competing at the competition. Contest administrators may elect to further divide some of these team categories that have a large number of participants. Changes in team size must be made in writing three weeks before the contest and signed by your administrator.

No changes in team size will be made after the schedule is sent out.

 

Routine Performance Requirement: Varsity Public Community Drill teams NOT Dance Teams must perform a minimum of 70% of their actual team membership on all team routine events entered.

 

Props and Backdrops Usage: Curtains, staging, and other props for routines

should be constructed to fit through a 7 foot tall double door, with the center

support bar removed, found at most public school gymnasiums where regional

contests are held. Props and staging may have minor assembly on the floor but

setup and breakdown time for props and staging will be added to the actual

routine performance time length to produce total floor time. Total floor time

should not exceed 5 minutes for all drill categories except show production & precision drill skills (10 minutes). i.e.)separte competition, if your team enters the show-production, Pom divisionect... your team will compete with that division

Any exceptions must be approved by the contest administrators BA Associates, in advance of the competition date.

 

Performance Schedule: A 5 point penalty will be assessed to teams not ready

to perform when scheduled unless the delay is caused by a technical problem in

the competition. This will be determined by the officials conducting the competition, BA Associates. If the competition is running ahead of schedule, teams will have the option of performing early or waiting until their scheduled time but no later.

 

Late Entry Penalties: Any entries received after the registration deadline (10)days prior to the contest date) will be charged a $25 late fee for each team,

officer, ensemble, and  Capt. solo routine entered.

 

Late cancellations: Any team that drops events after the schedule has been made will still be responsible for those entry fees Schedule info will be sent out 2 weeks before competition event

 

Not Allowed: Trampolines, Inflatable devices, pyramids or lifts over 2 levels high (base +1 person).

 

General Contest Information

 

Concessions: No outside food or drink. If you are a vendor you can only sell merchandise

There will be a concession stand available for the teams and spectators at Event. Please support our hostesses and purchase your meals from their concession stand. They appreciate it!

 

Videographer: Everyone is welcome to bring a video camera and film the contest from their seat. You will not have access to electrical outlets. Tripods are not allowed. Videographer services, for indicated contests, will be provided by BLAD Productions.

 

Music: No IPods.

Record music onto an individual CD , Exceptions only for Bands or Drum Corps 

No other music may be on the CD other than your program music.

Please bring a back-up copy and have it available in case of technical problems.

Speed control will NOT be provided for CD.

 

Large Ensemble & Duet Competition Team Competition: This constitutes drill team bands and or drum corps performing together in divisions cateogory competition

Your team may enter a choice of the categories including High Kick, Pom, Prop, Lyrical, Military and Production, and you will be given a separate I, II or III rating on each. You may enter up to three routines and have only the best two scores count toward $20,000 Sweepstakes. Your team is eligible to receive Sweepstakes (rating of at least 85 from at least two judges on each of three routines), Judges Award (rating of at least 90 from all judges on all three routines), and ShowTime's Applause Awards

(Precision, Showmanship, Choreography, Audience Appeal and Entertainment, Technique, 

Energy, Spirit of America, Kick Master and Jr. Kick Master). In addition, the judges will select a“Best in Category” routine type for each classification. Team and officer classification will be by the exact number enrolled in your drill team number entered performing. Teams and officers will be classified by team size ,

15 member medium,   25 meaning large   and 30 or more meaning superteams and may vary at each contest to afford the most equitable competition. At each contest the judges may select several teams for the “Champions Circle” and a Grand Champion in each classification. Entrance and exit are 1 (one) minute on and 1(one) minute off but will not judged. Time Limit: Entrance, routine and exit 7 minutes maximum for Judges “Champions Circle”

Entering three routiens specifications: For each team entering the competition divisions (Precision military 5 min performance, Technique 5 min performance, Kick and or Pom ect....)these division are within age divisions only

 

Officer Competition: Officers are invited to enter  Salute Routines in the same categories whatever your team division military, pom and or kick ect.....

You may enter up to three routines and have only the best three scores count toward your three division you have entered Sweepstakes. Entry fees covers any division your team wants to compete in all three can be for example: Kick(1 division) Pom division 1division itself) Precision (1) division which ever your team selects to compete in and or against other teams.

Officers will receive ratings of I, II or III on each routine and are eligible to receive Sweepstakes and Judges Awards. In addition, the judges will select a “Best in Category” routine for each classification. The judges may select officer for Champions Circle. Officers should be prepared to perform either on a hard surface or a carpeted floor. Officer routines do not count toward the “Team Grand Champion Award of $20,000”. Entrance, routine and exit 5 minutes maximum(Officers Awards Competitions Only!) 

 

Small Drill teams  may also enter a routine in the duet, small (15), or large (-25) ensemble categories. Each contestant will receive a written/verbal critiques from the judges. These routines should be designed to use the chosen number of participants in the most interesting way, highlighting patterns, partner work, and steps that only that particular number of dancers could do with good visual effect. Each dancer will receive a medal. The top ensembles will be announced at the awards ceremony, and individual Awards (funds) will be presented to each winning Team. Time Limit: 3 minutes. Penalty over 3 minutes 15 seconds No longer qualified for award (financial)

Junior Competition: Same rules Applies for Small Drill team Divisions

 

Entry deadlines: Deadline for receiving entry, contest fees, and names of  Capt. solos, Team Performance ensembles, and officers is (3) three weeks before the contest.

Late fees apply to fees not paid by the deadlines. Entry will be cancelled March 25, 2012

 

Early registration bonus: Free Vending and fundraising for your organization each team receives 1 10x10 booth and or table to fundraise with vendor markets

It certainly helps us to know as early as possible how many teams will be attending each contest.

 

Refund policy: Refunds in writing: 30 days before the contest, full refund less 10% bookkeeping fee. In otherwords, there will be a 10% bookkeeping fee charged to all teams

to process your refund of cancellatins also please be aware that if cancellantiono ccurrs14 days before the contest, there will be no refund.

No shows receive no refund.

 

Props: A quick reminder to be sure your props are padded on all

surfaces that will touch the floor. We cannot allow any unpadded

props on the floor. Have your parents and helpers practice moving

them on and off the floor without leaving any marks. Tilting props

causes gouges in the floor. One year we paid $1,500 to refinish the

floor after a contest. This year you will be responsible for any

damage. Thank you for understanding.

 

Tickets: Spectator tickets for the competition are available at the

door of the competition site $5.00 Admission. Please let your spectators know.

Directors, performers, and drill team members in uniform (garment identifiable) and or on team entry fee list are admitted free to competitions & vendors markets to shop for designer item during and or before competitions events; everyone else will need to purchase a ticket. Tickets cover all day, free entrance into vendors markets so spectators may leave and return as long as our wrist band is on their hand. Every person will need to enter the front lobby, so check with our lobby staff if you need to unload

props once your team has checked in and had their wrist bands on .
